Founded in 2015, BOW's work began with a commitment to domestic violence awareness and survivor empowerment and has grown to create broader opportunities for women and girls to heal, grow, lead, and thrive.

Is BOW only for survivors of domestic violence?

No. Domestic violence awareness, education, and survivor support remain important parts of BOW's mission and history, but BOW serves a broader community of women and girls. Some programs and services are specifically designed for survivors, while others focus on mentorship, leadership, personal development, education, healthy relationships, life skills, community engagement, and future readiness.

What is PURPLE Girls?

PURPLE Girls is BOW's youth mentorship and development initiative designed to help girls and young women build confidence, strengthen life skills, develop healthy relationships, discover their voice, prepare for their futures, and grow as leaders. PURPLE Girls is not a domestic violence survivor program. Domestic violence prevention and healthy-relationship education are components of a broader mentorship and personal-development experience.

What is the difference between PURPLE Girls Junior and Senior?

PURPLE Girls Junior and PURPLE Girls Senior are designed for different developmental stages. Junior focuses on age-appropriate confidence building, self-awareness, life skills, healthy relationships, leadership, enrichment, and sisterhood. Senior builds upon those foundations with greater emphasis on independence, decision-making, leadership, relationships, future readiness, life preparation, exposure, and transition into adulthood. Yes. BOW provides survivor-centered support, education, empowerment, resource navigation, and opportunities for connection within the scope of its programs and services. BOW is not an emergency response service. Individuals experiencing immediate danger should call 911.

BOW offers educational, coaching, and supportive services that may include Domestic Violence H.E.L.P. Coaching, Anger Management Education, Alcohol & Substance Abuse Education, Life Coaching, Business Coaching, Empowerment & Personal Development, and Resource Navigation & Referral Support. Are BOW's coaching and educational services therapy or counseling?

Accepted Answer

No, unless a particular service is specifically identified as being provided by an appropriately licensed clinical professional. BOW's coaching, education, advocacy, mentorship, resource navigation, and supportive services should not be considered substitutes for psychotherapy, medical care, legal representation, substance-use treatment, or other licensed professional services. When needs fall outside BOW's scope, participants may be provided with information or referrals to appropriate community resources.

Do BOW services have a fee?

Some BOW programs and services may be offered at no cost, while others may have participation or service fees. Fees, payment requirements, and available payment options will be provided before enrollment.

What if I cannot afford a program or service?

Eligible participants experiencing financial hardship may request consideration through the BOW Access Program. Depending on eligibility, available resources, program requirements, and approval, options may include reduced fees, payment arrangements, scholarships, waivers, or other approved accommodations. Approval is not guaranteed.

What should I do if I am in immediate danger?

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911. For domestic violence crisis support, safety planning, shelter information, and other immediate assistance, visit our Resources page for current national, state, and local resources.

Does BOW provide emergency shelter?

No. BOW does not operate an emergency shelter. BOW may provide information and referrals to organizations that offer emergency shelter, housing assistance, or other crisis services. Availability and eligibility are determined by the outside provider.

Can BOW help me find community resources?

BOW may assist individuals with identifying resources related to domestic violence, housing, food, employment, legal assistance, counseling and mental health, substance-use treatment, healthcare, family services, and other community needs. BOW cannot guarantee eligibility, availability, placement, funding, or services provided by another organization.
